BLOC weekend '10

One of the leading indoor underground music events BLOC weekend is three days of independent electronic music, held once again at Butlins Resort, Minehead, Somerset from Friday 12 to Sunday 14th March 2010.

Line-up

The event promises a more powerful line-up with something like 60+ international acts. Confirmed acts include 'Mad' Mike Banks as Model 500, Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Salt N Pepa, Grandmaster Flash, Mixmaster Mike, Adam Beyer, Skream B2B Benga, Luke Vibert, Congo Natty aka Rebel MC, MJ Cole, Kode 9, Roots Manuva, Autechre, Ms Dynamite, Wiley, Derrick May, Luke Slater, Lindstrom, Anti-Pop Consortium, Surgeon, Nathan Fake, Joker, Mark Ernestus feat. There will be two stages plus a pub stage, an Un:BLOC stage offering a range of non-electronic acts, and an interactive arts arena.

Fancy dress theme

The Sunday fancy dress theme has been announced as 'The Big Day - Dearly Beloved' think weddings, brides, bridesmaids, grooms, pageboys, vicars, cakes, confetti, mothers-in-law, drunk uncles, wedding singers, top hats and tails, etc.

Accommodation

There's self-catered, heated chalet accommodation on site, with ensuite and equipped with beds, kitchen, showers, and all mod cons. Butlins Minehead looks out across a sandy beach. The site is equipped with a supermarket, newsagent, cash points and restaurants.

Facilities

Onsite facilities include a Splash Water World - a sub-tropical environment that has a wave pool, a swimming pool, 3 flumes and also a flume based raft ride, plus ten-pin bowling and amusement arcade. Sports include archery, football, basketball, darts, petanque, fencing, kwik cricket, netball, rounders, table tennis, outdoor bowls and crazy golf.

Tickets

Tickets have sold out. Ticket bookings were done per chalet. Tickets had to be bought in groups of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 (and ten 8 berth) according to the size of the apartment wanted. 'Self-Catering' apartments have a kitchen and a separate living room, and 'Room-Only' apartments do not. A room only ticket was priced at £140 per person, including festival passes. A self catering apartment was priced at £150 per person, including festival passes.

Shuttle buses

Coaches will be departing from Taunton Station on an hourly basis on Friday 12th from 2pm until 11pm, tickets are priced at around £6 per person. There will also be a return service departing Resort at 7.30am until 10am on Monday 15th March. Return tickets will be available priced at around £10 per person.
