The Bures Music Festival, incorporating Jazz by The Stour, is an annual music event held in a marquee in the picturesque village of Bures on the Essex & Suffolk Borders taking place on Wednesday 8th until Sunday 12th July 2009. The original Sunday event 'Jazz by the Stour' is now supported & proceeded by four nights of top musical performances spanning the genres from Soul, Blues, Swing, Rock 'n Roll & Choral as well as our very own young musicians showcase.
The festival raises money for charitable organisations such as St. Helena's Hospice and The Ferriers Barn Handicapped Centre, as well as for local organisations.
The festival has a varied line-up of choral, blues, swing and jazz, with many entertainments and refreshments on site. The first acts for this year's programme have been announced - the choir on Wednesday is The Voice Squad.
Young Musicians of the Year competition with its contemporary moniker 'B Fest' is held in the marquee on the Recreation Ground on Thursday.
Blues on the Friday is has Stephen Foster introducing Paul Lamb and The King Snakes, with the Ramon Goose Band in support.
Soul Night on Saturday features Soul Kitchen and compere Liz Mullen.
Jazz on the Sunday headliners are the Geoff Gascoyne/Trudy Kerr Sextet. Singer Joanna Eden appears with a ten piece group The Eden Project. Saxophonists Jonny Boston and Jo Fooks complete the bill with their respective groups.
Tickets for this years event will be available from May 1st 2009. An all encompassing weekend ticket will be priced at £45. The Choral Evening on Wednesday is priced at £6 (£5 concs). B Fest on Thursday is priced at £4 (£1 under 16's). Blues Night on Friday is priced at £15. Soul Night on Saturday is priced at £15. Sunday is priced at £17.50 (£15.00 concs). Accompanied children under 16 are eligable for free entry on Sunday only (1 child per paying adult).
Free camping is available if booked in advance.
