The Chippenham Folk Festival takes place from Friday 22nd to Monday 25th May 2009. Now in its 39th year and having seen many changes since its beginnings in the village of Lacock many years ago, this festival still retains its 'village' atmosphere, and is packed with song, dance, workshops and dance displays. Over 200 events take place within the town centre.
The main ceilidh and concert events take place in the park by the river. Practically every pub and venue in the town is used for a wide range of sessions, workshops and smaller concerts and dances.
The line-up for 2009 includes Alison McMorland & Geordie, Askew Sisters, Barron Brady, Barry Goodman, Bella Hardy with Chris Sherburn, Belshazzars Feast, Bram Taylor, Brass Monkey, Brian Peters & Gordon Tyrrall, Calan, Craig:Morgan:Robson, Crucible, Damien Barber & Mike Wilson, Doug Eunson & Sarah Matthews, Ed Rennie, Eddy Johns, Flossie Malavaille, George Papavgeris, Hanging Johnny, INU, Jack Crawford, John & Caroline Bushby, John Cave, Johnny Collins, Keith Donnelly, Mrs Ackroyds Band, Rosie Upton, Sara Grey, Steve Morris, Sylvia Watts, Tom Bliss, Tony & Pearl O'Neill, Vicki Swann & Jonny Dyer, Will Noble, and Zoox.
