This annual festival takes place from 5th-7th May.
The festival kick-starts with Wilko Johnson (Dr Feelgood guitarist), playing live at Clun Memorial Hall on Saturday, 5th May. Admission is by ticket only, £15 from the Box Office, tel. 01588 640305 and the White Horse Inn.
On Sunday afternoon there's a Medieval Street Fair (free admission) held in the Square, with a play by the Clun Mummers, plus Morris dancing, street entertainers and market stalls.
From noon on Monday, 7th May, a procession through the town precedes the dramatic battle between the Green Man and Dame Frostie, the Spirit of Winter, fought out on Clun Bridge. The Green Man must win if they are to have a Summer in Clun!
All being well, the Green Man then opens the May Fair on Clun Castle Meadow with craft demonstrations, strolling musicians and maypole dancing plus a variety of stalls and refreshments.
Throughout the afternoon the Plantagenet Historical Society will re-enact medieval life with knights in armour, squires, archers and court ladies. Medieval re-enactment including squire training, archery, and dancing.
Entrance: Adult £2.50, Child 50p.
