A city council sponsored event featuring more than 40 live events and exhibitions plus a wide range of music, both classical and contemporary; dance, including ballet; drama; free family events; street theatre, and comedy. Many events are free.
There's live music including world, rock, folk, and reggae with bands such as The Stranglers (23rd June, at Riverside Leisure Centre) and Ska Cubano (16th July, at the Phoenix); plus Exeter Respect Weekend at the Phoenix Arts Centre (6th-8th July). For full details, click here.
Classical performances are as follows:
15th June: Homage to Elgar - City of London Sinfonia with the Festival Chorus at Exeter Cathedral.
20th June: The Tallis Scholars - Renaissance music with Magnificat for Double Choir at Exeter Cathedral.
23rd June: The Doric Quartet with Mark Simpson at the Barnfield Theatre.
24th June: Carducci String Quartet - Schubert and Strawberries - at the Chapter House, Exeter Cathedral.
27th June: The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at The Great Hall, University of Exeter.
30th June: Three Cathedral Choirs at Exeter Cathedral.
Amongst many other events, this year's programme also includes: a free Craft Festival on the Cathedral Green (15th/16th June); a Lammas Fair in the High St and Guildhall (15th June); a Continental Market; Exeter Comedy Club at the Corn Exchange (15th June) plus Tim Minchin (30th June at the Phoenix) and Jimmy Carr (25th June at the Riverside); talks; contemporary theatre, and dance performances; plus an open-air production of Shakespeare's 'Macbeth' in Rougemont Gardens (from 12th July - 11th August).
