Urban Species - review by : Solomon Degia
Glastonbury Festival 1999
Tuesday 29th June 1999

Jazzworld, Saturday 26th June
Urban Species arrived on the Jazz World Stage some half-hour late after their transportation to the site let them down. But come they eventually did, and were moody, funky and, along with The Herbalizer and The Freestylers, were one of the best acts to hit the Jazz World Stage at Glastonbury '99.
We all waited as the crew re-arranged the stage, as the sun set and the sky burned crimson. We waited patiently as the evening passed because we knew something special was coming.
Guest singer, Imogen, sings sweeter than a gospel-choir of angels, hypnotising the enormous evening crowd with her range of incredibly soothing vocals. Urban Species' new album Blanket, is like taking the ultimate chill pill. Listening to it live under a glowing red sky is like floating on air.
Urban Species - dark, powerful and up there with the very best. better late than never.
