A classic case scenario of the letting the music do the talking, and talk it does, bright sunshine and blistering heat were not the ideal backdrop for their Stranglers style appearance and the dark melodic music. With Edge style guitars and thundering bass lines, you could of closed you eyes and imagined Joy Division on stage, tracks like 'Obstacle 1' and 'Stella was a diver' were even harder and more aggressive than the studio takes.
During 'Hands Away' a small twister ripped across the second stage field, to add a little extra excitement to what was one of the finest performances of the weekend. Judging by the quality of the new material previewed, next time Interpol play Glastonbury, it could be the Pyramid in the dark.
