The dates for 2008 are confirmed as Thursday 15th until Saturday 17th May.

The Great Escape is an international live music event; a festival of around 200 acts from across the globe performing at about 25 venues within Brighton City Centre.

There are many acts for the line-up who have been announced, some of them include The Futureheads, The Ting Tings, Young Knives, Black Mountain, Tunng, Fujiya and Miyagi, Peter Von Poehl, School of Langauge, and Lightspeed Champion, all confirmed for the Mojo Stage. Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong, Torngat, and Wintersleep, Canterbury, Crystal Castles, Johnny Foreigner, One Night Only, The Subways, This City and Yeasayer and there are many more confirmed for the festival line-up. The Great Escape Festival utilising the spaces that Brighton has to offer. The main activity will be focused around the "Level" and the seafront, with some larger venues helping to reduce any queuing. The venues will all be a close walk from each other with each venue equipped to an international showcase standard. Shocases include The Best Of South By South West @ The Great Escape, Grime and Hip Hop Artists @ The Great Escape and Fat Cat Records Showcase.

As well as the live music, there's also a number of "Parkinson" style interviews with luminaries from the world of Music and Media, to show the way in which success is achieved.

Two of the convention days have been announced; Thursday 15th May - Music Ally Digital Day; and Friday 16th May - Tge Publishing Day. Terry Mcbride (Nettwerk), Howard Marks, Miranda Sawyer and Annie Nightingale are confirmed as speakers for delegates only with many more speakers announced for the weekend.

Tickets are on sale, priced at £45. The ticket entitles you to entry to all gig venues over the 3 days. Day tickets are available: Thursday Ticket £18.50, Friday or Saturday Ticket £22.50. Tickets will need to be exchanged for a wrist band. Wrist band will gain entry to all venues subject to capacity. The Wrist band exchange venue will be printed on your ticket. A limited number of tickets for 16 and 17 year olds are now available for £45. Tickets allow access to the following venues at The Great Escape Festival: Barfly, Concorde 2, Dome Concert Hall, Freebutt, Komedia upstairs, Old Market, Pav Theatre, Prince Albert, Red Roaster, Sallis Benney, and Watermargin. The 3 Day Gig Pass will therefroe enable you to see Vampire Weekend, Lightspeed Champion, Ting Tings, Iron & Wine, Futureheads, Young Knives, Wombats, Hold Steady, Subways, Black Mountain, Crystal Castles, Automatic, Reuben, Bombay Bicycle Club, Operator Please, Wiley + Support, Pete & The Pirates, Laura Marling, and more.
