Cosmic Comedy Tent in association with eFestivals

GuilFest 2008

Wednesday 11th June 2008

Friday 4th July
comedy scheduled from 2.30 - 7pm.

Mc - ADAM MONTGOMERY: Guilfest regular Adam is charged with warming up this years comedy tent crowd on the opening day.

DAN EVANS: Evans twisted logic has delighted the nation, helping it through the dark days of the death of HRH The Queen Mother and the uncertainties of 21st century property prices. "Skilful and surreal' The Scotsman

ELIS JAMES: Welsh comic Elis is storming the comedy scene. His spontaneous and surreal rambling storytelling style has won him a clutch of new comedy awards.

GEORGE EGG: One of the most original, innovative, and sweetly whimsical comedy performances you are ever likely to see. A Tommy Cooper for the twenty first century - a true cross between alternative stand-up comedy and music hall variety.

ALISTAIR BARRIE: The casually urbane Barrie is a comfortable middle-class man racked by a liberal guilt. "... drops from the highbrow to the gutter in the draw of a breath" Metro

Howard Marks plus special guest headliner HOWARD MARKS: A special festival presentation from the legendary 'Mr Nice'.

Howard Marks is a best-selling author, travel writer, and performer. His one man stand up show takes the audience from his time at Oxford University to his years as a cannabis smuggler, from his evading authorities for decades to 25 years’ imprisonment in the USA’s most secure prison, Terre Haute, Indiana. Howard tells his story with audio/visual aids and answers questions from the audience.

Friday 4th July LATE SHOW
Comedy scheduled from 11pm.

MC - DANNY JAMES: Compere Danny is a great host who regularly performs at Jongleurs comedy clubs around the UK. "mature and sensitive are two words that can never be used to describe Danny James" Comedy Store, London.

GARY DELANEY: Brilliant, razor-sharp and often dark lines win over any crowd and leave them struggling to remember all the ones they want to tell later. Hecklers beware. "Delaney is the man Jimmy Carr wants to be" BBC Online.

GEORGE EGG: Back for a late night version, George's silly but revolting tricks might seem a bit darker after midnight .... "A hugely entertaining variety turn" The Guardian

DAN ATKINSON: Dan's a shabby bearded chap who always makes people laugh. You'll never get the same show twice - it's genuinely fresh and unpredictable. "a very intriguing young weirdo .... might be one of the most surprising undiscovered talents you'll see for a while" Blam magazine

Saturday 5th July
comedy scheduled from 2.30 - 7pm.

MC - MICKEY HUTTON: Newcastle born Hutton started his career as a musician but soon discovered stand up comedy and hasnt looked back, although he does still like to brandish his guitar on stage. "like watching Viz live" Laughing Matters

DANNY BUCKLER: One of UK's stars of comedy and magic, with a unique style that has already taken him around the world and resulted in his own comedy special for Channel Four: Danny Does Tricks

JIMMY McGHIE: Playful and poignant, Jimmy combines sparkling banter and hilarious stories. "Impressive Talent" The Observer

TOM DEACON: Chortle student comedian of the year 2007

NATHON CATON: Young, black-British comic, who has won various awards and accolades and is currently gigging around the UK. "a slick performer" Chortle

NICK WILTY: Known as the "Globetrotting Comedian" for good reason, he has performed on every continent except Antarctica. "Just three adjectives to describe Wilty - brilliant, brilliant and brilliant." Chortle

WAYNE DEAKIN: Australian headline act Wayne tours constantly throughout the USA and Canada. With a likeable laconic style to draw you in and biting social commentary, Wayne will have you laughing and thinking on this rare trip to the UK.

Saturday 5th July LATE SHOW
comedy scheduled from 11pm.

MC - TOM DEACON: Lively young comic Tom back to host the late show.

JIMMY McGHIE

SUSAN MURRAY: This bad assed black country lass takes no prisoners with her irreverent, close to the knuckle honest humour cut through with razor sharp cynicism. "she has the mentality of a spiteful 14 yr old boy! very admirable in a young lady!" Arthur Smith

WAYNE DEAKIN: Australian headline act with his after midnight set so dont bring the kiddies to the late show! His early show would have been near the knuckle so expect this adult version to leave you gasping.

Sunday 6th July
comedy scheduled from 2.30 - 7pm.

MC - LEE CANTERBURY: Like a ball of energy bouncing around the stage. "The result of a genetic experiment between Eric Morecombe and Speedy Gonzales" Time Out

PAUL KERENSA: Attitude, style and diamond-sharp wit coupled with excellent one-liners and bizarre prop-based maths putdowns.

PAUL F. TAYLOR: Up-and coming young comic with wicked punchlines and strings of odd observations.

ROBIN INCE: Time Out Comedy Award winner, Observer Award Winner, British Comedy Award Nominee - Robin Ince is a multi talented and slightly bookish workaholic. "he's like a young Victor Meldrew crossed with a trendy sociology professor" Daily Telegraph

PIERRE HOLLINS: A firm Guilfest favourite with a silly electric squash raquet and loads of gags, Pierre is a stalwort of the UK comedy scene and very welcome back to Stoke Park.

MICHAEL FABBRI: A relative newcomer, Fabbri is one of the few who genuinely feel as if they have the makings of a future pro. His unfussed delivery style feels fresh, and it's backed up by material that is inventive & quirky.

COLIN COLE: A huge Australian comic with a fast and furious set jam packed with jokes. This 6'7" comic is well know for his dynamic performance and expertly crafted jokes. "one of the most exciting performers to come out of Australia since Skippy" New York Times
