Sister Bliss Interview

Friday 16th June 2000

So are you a regular festivals goer?

Yes I am indeed.

Do you ever stay in a tent camping?

No, of course I don't, not in this day and age. No, unfortunately I'm playing there most of the time so it's not really a tent vibe for me, its more of a tour bus vibe. I haven't been in a tent since ... ooh..... '89.

So what was your accommodation last year at Glastonbury then?

Tour bus, tour bus. But its not luxurious at all although slightly drier than tents. I love staying in tents, I have no problem with it at all but unfortunately the festival season means that often we do Glastonbury but we have to leave, you know, the same day.

How do you view playing festivals as opposed to gigs?

As a band member (Faithless) I love the fact that when we do festivals we are playing to people who aren't neccessarily our fans at all so commercially it's a very good thing to do. But I love the vibe, I feel it's a challenge playing to people who have no idea who you are and you have to draw them in. So it means you really, you know, bring out extra parts of your personality, you have to draw on your hidden reserves - its not easy. Also you get to see absolutely fantastic bands, other people, just wandering around and having that relaxed vibe. So much of life isn't like that for people so festivals give you a little taste of freedom In fact, I try to live my life like that - my life is a festival - but the first time I went to Glastonbury in 1987 it was a very very special experience, it really was excellent...
