Runaround Kids talk to eFestivals

Leeds Festival interview

Wednesday 4th August 2010

At the press day of this year's Leeds festival eFestivals got a chance to have a Q&A session with Runaround Kids a band who have secured a slot on the BBC Introducing Stage this year.

Runaway Kids
How did you get to play the Leeds Festival?
Well, we played the Futuresound competition which was during June and July; but we only found out this Saturday so we've been holding on for a while, but still very excited! I don't think it's sunk in yet, it all seems a bit unreal, like a dream.

And how long have you been together?
Around two or three years depending where you count it from. We've been gigging for a solid two and a half.

Have you gigged nationally, or just local?
We played London in February, and we've been round Yorkshire and Lancashire.

Have you had any label interest yet?
Well, we're currently signed to a label called Philophobia, which is a really great label in Wakefield. It's pretty much the musical centre of Wakefield, owned by a guy called Rob Dee who without him, I don't think we'd be here.

So, do you go to festivals yourself?
We've gone to Leeds Festival for a few years, I've got a few wristbands on! Went to Manchester Dot to Dot this year, which was incredible!.

Leeds Festival takes place on the bank holiday weekend, from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th August at Bramham Park, Leeds, West Yorkshire, with the sister event, Reading Festival, taking place the same weekend at Little Johns Farm, Richfield Avenue, Reading, Berkshire.
