The dates for Meltdown 2009 are confirmed as Saturday 13th until Sunday 21st June.

Each year MELTDOWN offers a guest director the chance to produce his or her own fantasy festival, mixing artists and art forms, reflecting their own personal passions and interests. The director for 2009 has been announced as jazz legend Ornette Coleman.

Ornette Coleman will perform two very special concerts. One is inspired by his seminal 1959 release 'The Shape of Jazz to Come' and the other by his landmark 1961 release 'This Is Our Music'. Both concerts will take place in the Royal Festival Hall.

The line-up so far announced is as follows:

Sat 13 June - Royal Festival Hall - The Roots with guest David Murray & more
Sat 13 June - Queen Elizabeth Hall - David Murray & Gwo-Ka Masters+ Jamaaladeen Tacuma
Sun 14 June - Royal Festival Hall - Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band featuring Antony Hegarty, Sean Lennon, Cornelius & special guests
Sun 14 June - Queen Elizabeth Hall- Marc Ribot, Evan Parker, and Han Bennink
Sun 14 June - The Clore Ballroom - Acoustic Ladyland
Mon 15 June - Royal Festival Hall - Baaba Maal
Mon 15 June - Queen Elizabeth Hall - The Freewheeling Yo La Tengo
Tue 16 June - Royal Festival Hall - Moby
Tue 16 June - Queen Elizabeth Hall - James Blood Ulmer
