Under leaden skies Vampire Weekend remind us that this is summer and this is a summer festival with 'Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa' and soon have us dancing. In the crowd costumed revellers start to make human pyramids and despite the threat of rain as 'Boston (Ladies of Cambridge)' fires up, the crowd swells.
Vampire Weekend's summery pop is just the anti-dote to this cold and windy Sunday at Reading with jangling guitars 'A-Punk' kicks off and so do the dust clouds from those bouncing before the main stage. The backdrop behind the band is looking festival worn but the band turn out a polished and well practiced performance. The band dance through 'One (Blake's Got A New Face)' and straight into 'The Kids Don't Stand A Chance'.
The band build to a celebratory version of 'Oxford Coma' announcing afterwards that this will be their last show for a while. They make their goodbyes with 'Walcott' and it's been a crowd lifting performance.
