The independent music festival and themed summer party has announced this year's theme will be 'Murder On The Standon Express'.On site
There are numerous stages and the odd unexpected stage appearing from nowhere. The festival boasts a number of bars, one of which is hewn out of an enormous oak tree, secret areas, interactive theatre, swimming pool (with underwater dance area), boutique camping (beach huts, yurts and tipis), kids area, and festival food.At Standon Calling the Heritage Arts Company, the resident theatre troop have revealed that Alice Llewelyn's record covers are not for sale - they are for robbing! The 25 prints, which would usually be sold for £200 each, will be the focus of an Art Theft rumoured to be taking place on the Saturday night - with the Robber Gang recruited from the public.
The array of stalls expands this year to include vintage clothes shops, Love Music Hate Racism, booksellers, and for the first year Gabby Young's Gabberdashery (the lead singer of Gabby Young and Other Animals clothes and crafts stall) showcasing her designs. Bizarre Bazaar will be opening a dressing-up shop, complete with costumes, make-up, hair pieces and photography services. On-site tailor Anna Popovich will be stocking some of her own exclusive pieces (£20 - £300) as well as making criminal customisations and outlawed alterations to festival goers clothes and costume, free of charge. Lingerie brand What Katie Did will also be on site, providing undergarment inspiration for those glamorous outfits.
Diesel Radio are on board as well, broadcasting across the stages for continual on-site coverage.
Ethos
The organisers are trying to make this festival as ethical and green as possible, recycling all and sundry and sourcing locally where possible and they are raising money for charity too. Standon Calling's chosen charity Phoenix Futures, a charity that supports people in drug and alcohol rehabilitation, receives £2 from every ticket sold.More information will be here when available.
