Manchild came on to the JJB Arena stage to a smallish, but enthusiastic audience. They played a short set of only half an hour, but brought plenty of energy to the crowd in that short space of time.
The band consisted of a DJ, MC, bassist, two keyboards and a guitar player. Their music was a heady mix of rock and house which made the audience jump about and shout. They were accompanied by a manic dancer who enthused the crowd and the band alike.
The height of the gig was when they played 'Clearblue' - their track with Kelly Jones from the Stereophonics. This really made the crowd go mad and by the time they had finished we all wanted more. No more was to be had however, as the V2000 crew stuck to the arrangement of having no encores.
Manchild's energy provided a bright start to the festival. This band is worth a visit and should demand longer stage time in the future.
