Happy Mondays fail to impress

V Festival (Staffordshire) 2009 review

Friday 28th August 2009

Sometimes you go to see a band knowing beforehand they are going to be dreadful or disappoint or just not even bother turning up: such are the Happy Mondays!! A large crowd had gathered in the Arena (just the Arena now JJB have pulled out their sponsorship) not to be confused with The Arena with the very big stage in the bigger field over there...

Ryder strolls onto the stage, having banged on even more weight & looking really bloaty around the face, either he has given up the drugs & that is a reaction or he is just enjoying the pies!

Happy Mondays

Fag in one hand, drink in the other he tells us Bez can't be here, which is a shame as the he is the main attraction. Ryder then tells us the guitarist has only had twelve days to practise as their guitarist quit, he then tells us the same with the drummer!!!! Gee, talk about cutting it fine. Thankfully the lovely Loretta is still as excited by performing & really it gives it her all. Unfortunately the same cannot be said of Ryder who just seems to be interested in smoking & drinking.

Happy Mondays

So to sum up then... Poor??? Disapointing??? Waste of festival time??? Something to do whilst you have an overpriced beer??? Possibly all of the above.

Hey Shaun, next time you get offered a festival slot & cannot be bothered to give it all, give us a break eh & save us all the waste of time so we can go do something more fun instead...
