One of Britain's oldest street festivals returns with the Winchester Hat Fair. A crazy, colourful celebration of theatre and music, now in its 35th year, where entertainers perform voluntarily in exchange for money to be thrown into their hats. Supported by local businesses, colleges and organisations, this FREE festival takes place in the city centre.
The line-up includes Los Dos Play, Camera Obscura, Mario Queen of The Circus, and Orkestra Del Sol. Over the weekend there will be some wonderful and interactive Installations around the town, Cathedral Green and Close including, The Insect Circus Museum, Bootworks new show, 'Little Box of Horrors', close acts show 'Saurus',the return of Dream Engines' Heliosphere, the Flying Buttresses and many many more walkabout acts. There are also seven new shows from the Without Walls consortium, including new works from 'Ballet Boyz', 'Punch Drunk' and 'Metro-Boulot-Dodo'.
The programme includes innovative community projects, markets, a big picnic, a huge childrens' procession, International large-scale work and commissions, music and large scale spectacular.
