Laura303
Hi All, Wondering if anyone knows of any good but not too expensive hotels within easy travelling distance of Glastonbury Festival. I don't drive so would need to be within walking distance or easy to get to by public transport. Cheers
eFestivals
there simply won't be any "not too expensive" hotels available nearby - the hotels know they can sell the rooms a hundred times, and the prices reflect that. Laura303
Yes I understand that they won't be exactly cheap and they will all increase their prices - I just mean not hotels that would be really expensive anyway so would cost even more around the time of the festival. If any1 could name any that are within ok travelling distance that would be great, thanks.
pezzypops
any reason you need to stay in a hotel and not camp? (i.e. disabled*) cos you'll spend a lot of time each morning and evening getting onto and off the site when you could be partying. there's showers on site in more than one location if its a 'can't go without a shower' thing (which i understand) and just remember that everyone will be as smelly as each other after a few days although babywipes are a godsend. * and there are very good disables facilities on site: seperate camping area, you can bring a carer with you for free (i think) etc. Edited January 19, 2009 by pezzypops

Laura303
I wasn't sure to post on here as I've seen a lot of people getting slagged off for their questions - was wondering if it would happen to me!! Yes I fully understand there are people a lot worse off in the world than me, it was just a thought and as I said in my reply I'll prob just rough it with my baby wipes!!! Chocscoffer
Baby wipes are definately the way to, they aren't as bad as you may think. Obviously they are no where near as good as a shower but when everybody else is in the same boat your thoughts about a shower will go out the window. I can't go a day without showering at least once but at Glastonbury I couldn't give two monkeys! Also, when you get home you will jump in the shower and you find it is the best shower in the world ever! If you really don't fancy it and you like your home comforts then why not get a campervan, either hire a nice expensive one that is all singing all dancing, shower, games room, restaurant in it it or, get a cheapo one and stick on of those shower tents (you get them in Argos) and stick a solar shower in it. That way you can still get a daily shower!
Laura303
Hey Chocscoffer, Thanks for the advice!! Yeah prob when I get there I'll be too busy having fun to care lol!! I mite look into the camper van thing thou......
pezzypops
have a read of Butterfly's Festival Glamour Guide from this very site. also a quick google of "guide girl glastonbury" threw up these: http://women.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_an.../article1859597 http://www.bbc.co.uk/glastonbury/guide/fashion.shtml Edited January 20, 2009 by pezzypops

ivan
If you are wandering back to your tent at 8.30 am after being in the dance tent all night or up at the stone circle , you will not be bothered about tents or showers or hotels ! In fact , nothing will worry you !!
Josie's Cat
Love the bit on the Times online that a straw poll of blokes find girls in wellies sexy! They weren't sure why this was though - I'm going to guess it's because a girl in wellies will not moan constatnly about wet/cold/sore feet, be prepared for most occasions, and not pass out due to hypothermia! Also wellies slide off easily! ALSO LOL LOL LOL!! at this from butterfly's guide; "If it bothers you that much get a cheap battery ladyshaver - but I don't promise you won't get laughs at the humming sound coming from your tent though." Laura303
I know - almost every1 thinks I'm mental for not camping. We r taking the tent as well so might camp some of the time. If not it's somewhere to leave change of clothes etc during the day!! Although it does mean I've got somewhere to go thats nice and clean to shower and sleep if it gets bad at the festival. Someone on another forum said one year he went to glastonbury it would have been more practical to sleep in a boat than a tent lol, just depends what the weather does if I've done the right thing or not!! Laura303
hey Chocscoffer - Lol!!!!! I know I know - the plan is to take the tent and put it up to put stuff in during the day and stay in one or two nights (maybe), my brother is going as well so he will stay in it more than the b and b prob!! Also we have the option of staying up all night, getting the shuttle back to the hotel for breakie at 8am, getting couple hours kip then heading back to the festival!!!! So it won't dull the experience too much I hope lol!! I just feel safer having a refuge to get clean and sleep if I need it!! But if it does dull the experience for me - by all means please feel free to say " I told you so!!!"
