Does nobody else think that the lack of bigger 'heavy' acts on the NME stage in the past couple of years is a concious decision then?

hmm, perhaps. Who was the last 'heavy' act to headline the NME? And whoever it was, did they get a big crowd?

As TIT says; ATDI in 2012 and they got a particularly poor crowd by the accounts I've heard. Not sure how Mastodon or Billy Talent did in the tent though but I just assumed since they got a new head booker person, that the increase of 'heavy' acts on main and introduction of a Rock Stage were moves that took some of that out of the NME.

Ah okay, I've never actually listened to ATDI so wasn't sure. Perhaps their poor crowd was the reason the NME didn't have a 'heavy' headliner last year or this year? Perhaps we're thinking too much into it and there'll be one next year, therefore these two years are just years they decided to book other people instead?

If think it just comes down to who's available. Someone like Bring Me The Horizon, A Day To Remember, Enter Shikari or possible You Me At Six are too big for the Rock Stage but have played main stage either this year or last, so would make sense to move them to NME if they were around & willing.

Well that's it isn't it? YMAS, Enter Shikari, ADTR are all third/fourth main, so around the level of a NME headliner but they're all on main instead.

They're just a band I've always meant to listen to but god knows I have no idea where to even start so haven't bothered yet. I'm sure they're as great as you all say but yeah, I wouldn't know :P

There's three albums, so album #1 wouldn't be a bad start. :P

Relationship of Command is my all time most played album on iTunes lol.

Also I agree with dental; I don't expect a heavier NME headliner next year. I guess Shikari could be possible actually, because I think they'll play again next year with their new album, but it'd be a bit shit to have them around 3rd main again.
