mattgimmeshelter
Paolo nutini and jake bugg (in my opinion) seem like they should be in eachothers place. Paolo is a sub/huge act in his right. He's going to pull one of the biggest crowds of the weekend regardless. Surely he'd be one of the better choices for a (modern mainstream act) against Metallica? Jake bugg must have the best agent in the world judging by the slots he's getting this year! Maybe paolo is techniqually the other headliner for Friday but skrillex is playing after him? So there's no clash between arcade fire and him? All speculation, but this stuck out as one of the weirdest placings for me! It would also make so much more sense! A Guy Called Matt
I love Jake Buggs music but live he is so dull - I switched off a recording of him live and put on the CD as it is better!!!
Likelylad1
Jake Bugg is generally championed by NME to a ridiculous extent, the only logic I can see with his booking is it gives all the "indie" lovers who were disgusted with Metallica somewhere to go on the Saturday. Avalon_Fields
I reckon Jake Bugg would be deserving if he'd build on his first album, but the second isn't fantastic, bit too premature to be headlining, Paolo Nutini's new CD is really good but even still he hasn't done anything for years beforehand. Mardy
am I alone in thnking the previous Paulo Nutini stuff was better than his new one. I really liked the one with '10 out of 10' and 'Pencil full of Lead' on, but this new one, man, just not doing it for me.

cwaite123
Paolo is a bigger name than Jake Bugg by far, got a lot more appeal across a varied audience. I think the worry of the bookers would have been if Paolo was to be put up against Metallica that he could have drawn a fair chunk of the 'mainstream' crowd away from the pyramid. Whereas Jake Bugg doesn't have as a wide of an appeal. He will draw the young indie lovers, whereas Paolo could have drawn people from all ages due to his wider popular appeal, which would be a risk against a more niche Pyramid headliner. I do agree with the idea that Paolo is the real Other headliner on the Friday but they've put a more dance, better in the dark, headliner on after in Skrillex. They will probably have the same length sets too.
morph100
They sort this months in advance taking a gamble on who will increase in popularity with their new album and singles in the months before Glasto. Guess they thought Jake Bugg would sell more than Paulo this year?

FloorFiller
i was thinking last night that Paolo seems like the 'proper' Other Stage headliner with Skrillex being above him purely to accommodate his lighting needs. seems like it may be a recurring thing (well… it seemingly happened last year as well with The xx / Smashing Pumpkins). guess the set times will be a good indicator of it glad that Bugg is going up against Metallica though as that's one less clash for me and will mean that all the fools are watching him whilst i watch Metallica, and i wouldn't mind going to see Paolo (although that slot is currently chock full of clashes so i'll see what kind of mood i'm in. won't be Elbow, that's for sure)

stocky3000
Couple of months back everyone was saying that the national werent going to be playing because it was speculated that they wouldnt be getting the other stage headline slot that they wanted.IF thats anywhere close to true it makes it even more disappointing that jake bugg is headlining
dingbat2
The thing I often wonder about both Jake Bugg and Paolu Nutini is what would the reaction be if they were over 50 years old? I reckon we would be hailing them as quality acts But they aren't, so some don't like them because they are young. And extremely talented Not sure why I think this, but I just do I remember hearing Iron Sky for the first time in HMV and think that guy is clearly a legendary act! Couldn't believe it when I found out it was Paolo Nutini!

dingbat2
Maybe we would, because maybe some of their music wouldn't have been considered stale and safe when it was released if it was released in the 80s.
mattgimmeshelter
Both the artists mentioned are good, just not necessarily original. This doesn't make them bad. They are both very talented musicians. And they provide the masses with a genre of music they wouldn't normally have been exposed to. And that's not a bad thing on my opinion. Hopefully the masses might seek out other quality acts in the same genre, some may be new, some may be from the 80s. I can't see that is a bad thing. Good music is good music
