Is Glastonbury behind the curve?

What I didn't enjoy about The Stones last year was the way they seemed to wipe out half of Saturday for me.

Usually, as it gets towards evening, I'm still expecting to see about 3 acts, but it seemed that getting to The Pyramid and finding a spot for The Stones was a priority from about 5/6pm. We still didn't even get in the field!

I prefer Glastonbury to feel a a little more like I can take it as it comes, rather than that I need half a day's military precision planning to even be in the same field as a band I want to see.

Obviously lineup is going to be highly subjective. You say that was an amazing run of artists I'm not bothered by any of them except Kenny.

I also generally don't see much on the Pyramid so was more of an impression from our group over the whole site rather than just one stage.

I know a lot of the stages are booked separately, so I don't know if extra spend on the headliners means all other stages getting their budgets reduced or just cheaper acts further down on the pyramid.

Either way thought this year was loads better and maybe 2013 is only considered vintage because of the Stones which is wierd when so many people say it's not about the headliners.

We wandered in towards the end of Primal Scream and then moved into the pit for the Stones when there was a mini-exodus of odd people who love Primal Scream but can't bear the Stones.

I said stellar rather than amazing - my point was that there's no evidence that they were booking 'cheaper' artists because of The Stones.

I imagine that a combination of the weather and The Stones is probably what lead a lot of people to label 2013 'vintage', but agree that it's a highly subjective term, if that's what you're saying. I suppose good weather affects everyone, and The Stones (like it or not) were probably more highly anticipated than any headliner in recent times, so a high proportion of people were satisfied! But if you split up with your boyfriend that weekend or caught a case of banjo hand from a passing member of Mumford and Sons, then it might well have not been a good year for you..

2011 was by far my least favourite year because of a bit of personal stuff, what I considered to be a mediocre line-up, and weather which was not helping. So totally subjective. :)

Sounds like you had an unfortunate experience last year. We ended up heading over to the pyramid at 7 to see Primal Scream and we got a really good spot. How did you end up not getting into the field?
