Trackers - any use at Glasto?

Are these any use at Glastonbury? Can anyone recommend one?

My son has thrown a considerable curveball by expressing an interest in watching, to my horror, Major Lazer, who seem likely to be on the same time as Radiohead - although Mrs b will escort him.

Are trackers good enough to find someone buried deep in the Pyramid crowd? I've never used one.

The best tracker in the middle of a pyramid crowd is a flag unfortunately- even if you use one on a mobile just getting into a major headliners pyramid crowd can be difficult!!

Choosing Major Lazer over radiohead is a mistake that will haunt him for the rest of his life, like when I opted for Chic over Portishead. Tell him you can either watch Radiohead together or Major Lazer together, and that the latter will involve you dancing vigorously, he will soon come round.

I have to agree with the flag method. Even if you don't own one yourself stand by someone with a large and obvious flag and use them as a landmark. I have had countless people ask if they can wait by me while they locate lost friends. It's one of the main reasons why I bring a flag to a festival but I'm definitely not one of those types to take it to the front and spoil the show.

Surely it'd be more certain a meeting place if you used something that couldn't move - the tree, sound desk, disabled platform for example.  My fear would be that the flag holder would decide to nip to the loo/bar or whatever (unless it's you holding the flag- but we really don't need to add more, do we?)

just organise a time and place to meet.

i have no idea what these trackers are you're talking about.

well that is what we used to do before mobile phones # and we never lost anyone #

The trick is to pick somewhere where you know is not going to be chock a block `    and we used to pick a odd time so it would be 14.45 or 16.45 or 18.45 - we would wait 5 to 10 minuets { depends if its wet } and then show up two hours later - cant ever recall needing to go back a third time

On iPhone there's an app called findfriends where you share your location with a contact, I use it for my daughter as she has a long journey home from school, don't think it would work at the festival though as it needs a reliable signal.

Charm x

Normally in that situation when I'm heading to the bar I'll pass the flag to one of my friends so I can find them easily on my return. It's usually people who are in the general area but can't find the specific spot their friends are in who ask. My hat lights also act as a beacon at night too for when you can't see the flags.

I have heard that you're also a fan of the lit up hat.

Version 1 of the hat is my avatar << You can just about make out the blue LED's on top of the spikes. Version 2 is in the process of being wired up, just waiting for a new LED controller. I have a strip of lights running around the rim so they can be multiple colours and patterns dependant on the tempo of the act I'm seeing at the time.

Of course arranging a time/place to meet is the obvious thing to do, I just thought if a tracker worked, this would give us more flexibility. There's likely to be numerous clashes for us over the weekend so we'll be going our separate ways at times. Anything to aid meeting up would be a bonus. You can buy trackers to find keys etc, also various phone apps. Just wondering if any work at Worthy Farm.

As others have said, pick a time and place, somewhere with food/drink to sit and relax while you wait.  Going back two hours later is an awesome idea, I'll remember that.

It is a personal choice but I like to use modern technology / my phone as little as possible during a festival.  It helps with switching off from the real world.
