local boost for Leeds Festival

nearby villagers in favour

Monday 16th February 2004

Leeds Festival - which takes place at Bramham Park near Leeds - has received an unexpected boost of support prior to tomorrow's Public Entertainments Licence hearing application being heard.

Every household in nearby Thorner Village filled in a survey/questionnaire where more than 2:1 were in favour of the Leeds Festival, with an even greater majority of 6:1 of households saying they were satisfied with the measures taken last year to minimise the impact on the village.

Melvin Benn M.D. of Mean Fiddler, promoters of the Leeds Festival said today:
"This is an excellent piece of news. The results are very pleasing as I worked very hard to minimise the impact and I am very pleased that has been recognised."

Pre-sale weekend tickets for this summer's Festival - due to take place over the August Bank Holiday weekend from Friday 22nd August to Sunday 24th August - are available to buy now, priced at £105 for all three days and including camping (use the link on the left hand side of this page).

No bands have been announced as yet - the first announcements are expected in April - but some rumours are available here.
