Heaven & Hell at Download?

Dio's new band tipped to headline

Wednesday 8th November 2006

UPDATE - 12th November

It seems that there was an misunderstanding in this info, and that it'll be Monsters of Rock that Heaven & Hell play, and not Download - that's certainly Classic Rock's take on the story.

=========================

According to a posting on Spain's MariskalRock.com web site, during Monday night's 'Classic Rock Roll of Honour' event in London, vocalist Ronnie James Dio revealed that his new band Heaven and Hell - which features original Black Sabbath members Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward in a re-run of the Ozzy-less Sabbath line-up of years past - will headline next year's Download Festival.

Dio spent two spells fronting Sabbath, from '79-'83 and '91-'92, and the name 'Heaven and Hell' comes from the name of the first Sabbath album Dio was involved with. Rumours that they considered using the nickname coined by disgruntled Ozzy fans back when Dio joined Sabbath the first time - 'the poison dwarf' - are unfounded .

Download Festival will take place at Donington Park, Leicestershire, from Friday 8th until Sunday 10th June.

Weekend tickets are for Download 2007 are currently available to buy, priced at £135 for the three days including camping (if things happen the same as last year, these will go off-sale shortly, and then will go back on sale at an increased price when the first bands are announced).
