The special guests to appear on the bill with Paul Weller at the first night of a two-day event this summer on the Isle Of Wight at Osborne House on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th July have been announced.
Indie rock four piece The Rifles, Arno Carstens, the South African rock star and the Hipshaker DJs will join Paul Weller who headlines the Osborne House event on Saturday 26th July. Girls Aloud will headline the following day and their special guests will be announced shortly.
19th century Osborne House is set in 1000 acres on the north east of the Isle Of Wight, and is one of the most popular tourist attractions on the island and English Heritage are delighted to be hosts.
"We are thrilled to be hosting such an exciting line-up this year," said Dean Pascall, English Heritage Head of Visitor Operations on the Isle of Wight, "Staging concerts in the grounds of important historic sites like Osborne House is a very immediate way of engaging people with their heritage as well as attracting a diverse audience, some of whom may never normally visit a historic property. We hope they will go away with lasting memories of a fantastic evening's music made even more special by the superb backdrop of Queen Victoria's magnificent island home."
John Giddings, organiser of Osborne House and the Isle Of Wight Festival, is thrilled to have teamed up with the English Heritage to put on this unique weekend. "It's great to be involved with developing the music scene on the island," he said, "and especially at one of the most beautiful locations in the country."
For Paul Weller it's his first return to the Isle Of Wight since his headline slot at Giddings Isle Of Wight Festival in 2003. The former Jam lead singer said, "I'm very much looking forward to paying Osborne House, its one of the few outdoor shows I'm doing this summer so I'm hoping it will be a good one!"
