Blur have been confirmed as one of the headliners for Oxegen.
This will be Damon Albarn's reformed band's only appearance in Ireland this year at the annual three day multi-stage music festival weekend returns to Punchestown Racecourse, Naas, Co Kildare from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th July.
Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, James Rowntree and Alex James, who have each been enjoying success with their own individual projects over the last few years, unleashed their Britpop sound in 1990, hitting the singles charts with songs like 'She's So High' and 'There's No Other Way'. Their album 'Parklife' the quartet's third studio album made the band a household name and remained in the charts for an astounding 90 weeks.
Blur's appearance at Oxegen will follow their two sell out gigs in London's Hyde Park which take place the week before the festival. 110,000 tickets for the gigs sold out in minutes.
Blur join the likes of Kings Of Leon, Snow Patrol, Bloc Party, The Script and Katy Perry on this year's Oxegen line-up.
The 'Early Bird' ticket offer has now closed, and tickets are currently not on sale. Tickets for Oxegen will go on general release on Friday 6th March 2009 at 8am.
