Kasabian to headline the Great Escape

plus a raft of new acts announced for Brighton festival

Kasabian have been announced as this year's headliners for The Great Escape.

The headlining show will be a separately ticketed over 18s only event, access is not guaranteed with a TGE wristband. A Kasabian only ticket will be priced at £22.50 and anyone attending The Great Escape can buy a 3-day festival and Kasabian joint ticket for £62.

Joining Kasabian on the line up for Brighton's annual festival will be flower punksters Black Lips, heavyweight indie-rap supergroup Mongrel, the folk-driven indie rock of Lightspeed Champion, electro-popper Little Boots, Canadian groove juggernaut Holy Fuck, and Ox.Eagle.Lion.Man.

Also playing this year's showcase event will be local band The Pipettes, plus Chew Lips, Mika Miko, Beth Jeans Houghton, S.C.U.M., Screaming Tea Party, Artefacts For Space Travel, Apples The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, The Miserable Rich, Woodpigeon, and Arkells will all be travelling to southern shores for some serious gig action.

With all-girl garage rockers Ipso Facto, Betchadupa front-man Liam Finn, Melbourne's The Temper Trap, off-kilter popsters Everything Everything, The Invisible's genre-hopping, the feedback-soaked S.C.U.M., and Hunting The Minotaur's dual riffage all also set to make appearances.

A number of acts are already confirmed, including British Sea Power, Cage the Elephant, Metronomy, Kissy Sell Out, Future Of The Left, The Big Pink, Passion Pit, Micachu And The Shapes, It Hugs Back, Esser, VV Brown, Ben Kweller, Johnny Foreigner, Dananananaykroyd, Let's Wrestle, The Chapman Family, Your Twenties, Golden Silvers, and Bell X1. With many more acts to be announced this is just the first confirmed acts with hundreds of international and UK pop, cutting edge, hip hop, electronic, and rock acts showcased at venues all over Brighton from Thursday 14th until Saturday 16th May.
