Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band are confirmed to play as the Pyramid Stage headliners on Saturday 27th June at this year's Glastonbury Festival.
Festival organiser, Michael Eavis, was at the Cardiff show The Boss played at last year and talked openly of wanting Bruce to play the festival this year.
Farmer Eavis said of the announcement, "I'm so pleased that Bruce Springsteen has agreed to come to Worthy Farm for the first time. He's one of the all-time rock legends. I'm confident that this will be one of our best shows ever. He's also a Barack Obama supporter, which makes two headliners in a row whove backed the new President."
Emily Eavis added, "I'm knocked out that we've managed to get Bruce to play. It's the icing on the cake of this years bill, which I'm sure will take everyone's breath away when we announce the full details."
The 'Born to Run' singer has sold more than 120 million records of his anthemic rock music across the world in a career spanning nearly four decades. The rock and roll working class hero is likely to be performing classics such as 'Thunder Road', 'Born in the USA', and 'Dancin in the Dark'. Earlier this year Springsteen won a Golden Globe award for his song 'The Wrestler', from the Mickey Rourke movie by the same name.
Tickets for Glastonbury Festival held for five full days from Wednesday 24th until Sunday 28th June 2009 at Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset have already sold out months before the event.
