Glastonbury's 'Greatest Hits'Emily Eavis reveals plans for Glastonbury Festival 2010Tuesday 3rd March 2009Glastonbury Festival organiser Emily Eavis has revealed that next year's festival which runs from Wednesday 23rd until Sunday 27th June 2010 is planning to include a 'Greatest Hits' showcase. Emily said, "It's our first 40th anniversary next year, we're talking to lots of bands at the moment about that, and we want to have a band from every year on the Pyramid stage over the weekend." The festival started in 1970, and there were no festivals from 1972 until 1978, and none in 1988, 1991, 2001, and 2006. That would mean organisers would have 27 year's worth of acts for the main stage, and the line-up for that stage would be complete with a showcase of Glastonbury's 'Greatest Hits'. Emily went on to say, "And I think we'll try and make a lot of the biggest performances on some of the tinier stages, so we're going to do something really special for our 40th anniversary." Tickets for Glastonbury Festival held for five full days from Wednesday 24th until Sunday 28th June 2009 at Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset have already sold out months before the event. Although the full line-up for this year's Festival has not yet been announced, To see who has been confirmed, and who might be playing take a look at the eFestivals' Glastonbury 2009 rumours >>. A further release of a limited number of cancelled tickets will go on sale from 9am on Sunday 5th April 2009, although in order to do so you must have registered beforehand to be eligible to buy a ticket. However, it's unlikely that they'll be a huge number of tickets available on that day. They will be priced at £175 (plus a booking fee of £5). published: 08:50 (GMT)
