in support of Rainforests Project

Tuesday 12th May 2009

Paul Weller is to headline a special Eden Session in support of The Prince's Rainforests Project.

Paul Weller
Paul Weller will headline the special Eden Session on Friday 10th July. The concert is part of a broader programme of joint EDF Energy and Eden initiatives which are being launched this year to encourage collective action in the fight against climate change.

Peter Hampel, Eden's Creative Director, said, "This concert is a really exciting addition to the 2009 Eden Sessions line-up and we are delighted to be drawing attention to the vital work of The Prince's Rainforests Project. We are really grateful for the support of EDF Energy to enable us to host what will be an amazing night of music from one of the world's most respected and enduring artists.."

HRH The Prince of Wales set up the Princes Rainforest Project in 2007, in order to build awareness about the need to slow the rate of tropical deforestation to prevent catastrophic climate change. This gig will raise public awareness about the link between rainforests and climate change and encourage people to sign up to the awareness campaign.

Weller joins the previously confirmed Eden Sessioners Kasabian, Razorlight, Oasis, and The Kooks with Ladyhawke.

Oasis tickets have already sold out. Tickets for Kasabian, Razorlight, and The Kooks are on sale priced at £35, to buy tickets, click here. Tickets for Paul Weller's Eden Session go on sale at 6pm on Tuesday 19th May. eFestivals will have links for you to get them then.

The Eden Sessions now in their eighth year, consist of six evenings of popular music in the beautiful surroundings of the Eden Project in Cornwall. A Sessions ticket entitles the ticket holder to visit the Eden Project either on the day of the concert or the day after. All proceeds from the events will go to the Eden Trust.

This gig provides an important opportunity to help spread the message about the importance of rainforest protection in the fight against climate change. Visit www.rainforestSOS.org to sign up to the campaign.
