Monday 15th February 2010

The xx, Richie Hawtin, and Fever Ray, have been announced as specials guests appearing at Bestival.

The XX

Utilising film, light and sound via three specially created audio-visual units the fixture will be playing all weekend in Bestival's onsite cinema, and it won't be at any other UK festivals.

Bestival's late night late night entertainment will include techno legend Richie Hawtin presenting Plastikman Live in one of only two English appearances. Hawtin will be presenting Plastikman material form the last 18 years. Everything will be reinterpreted through the capabilities of modern technology as Hawtin explores the connections between sight, sound and shared experience, incorporating state of the art visual architecture, interactive technology and more.

Also confirmed is Fever Ray, who will be making a UK festival exclusive appearance at Bestival this year.

Festival organiser Rob da Bank said, "OK, check this out for a triple whammy - my joint favourite band of last year The xx playing what will be a very rare UK festival appearance on our very own Isle of Wight, the audio-visual phenomenon that is Fever Ray with her ONLY UK festival this year and to cap it all one of the most important electronic wizards about, Richie Hawtin bringing his Plastikman guise to the Big Top. Selfishly these are three of the most played artists round the da Banks' at the moment and if you don't already own all the music get it now and get ready for September!"

Acts already confirmed include Dizzee Rascal, The Flaming Lips, Hot Chip, LCD Soundsystem, Gil Scott-Heron, Chase & Status, Echo and the Bunnymen, Simian Mobile Disco, Delphic, Rolf Harris, and Marc Almond, dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip, Ellie Goulding, Fat Freddy's Drop, Flying Lotus, Four Tet, Kitty Daisy & Lewis, Stornoway, Tinie Tempah, Vitalic, and of course festival regulars The Cuban Brothers. Plus many more.
