Bestival announce Jonsi (Sigur Ros)

and a 'Back To The Phuture' party featuring Heaven 17

Wednesday 17th March 2010

Jonsi and Back To The Phuture featuring Heaven 17 have been added to the line-up for Bestival.

Sigur Ros
Jonsi, front-man of Icelandic post-rock giants Sigur Ros, will be joining in with the 'Year of the Fantastic' playing material from his debut solo album, 'Go' which will be released in April. His Bestival appearance will be one of only two UK festival shows this year.

Rob da Bank said, "As a massive supporter of Sigur Ros and just as big a fan of Jonsi's solo album 'Go' this is going to be a very special concert. Jonsi's voice is so incredible - get in the queue for the Big Top Saturday night now!"

For the second year the festival will offer entertainment on Thursday night. The Big Top will play host to Wall of Sound chief and BBC 6 Music electronic music guru Mark Jones' Back To The Phuture.  Headlined by Heaven 17 the Back To The Phuture party will feature classic dancefloor synth-pop and today's electro sounds. With many more acts to be announced for the Big Top soiree.

Festival organiser Rob Da Bank said, "My first job was as teaboy for Mark Jones when he first set up Wall of Sound in a damp corridor. I'm well pleased that we're working together again albeit on a slightly larger scale as Jonesy and his brilliant Back To The Phuture boys and girls take over the Big Top on Thursday night. All about new music and some corking vintage music that still sounds new, I can't think of a better headliner than Heaven 17 to kick off a monster weekend."

For this year's theme Bestival will become a world of Fantasy and acts already confirmed include Dizzee Rascal and Hot Chip on Friday, The Flaming Lips and Roxy Music on Saturday, and The Prodigy on Sunday, plus Wailers, Wild Beats, Mumford & Sons, Chic, Tricky, The Temper Trap, The xx, Richie Hawtin presents Plastikman Live, Fever Ray, Hot Chip, LCD Soundsystem, Gil Scott-Heron, Chase & Status, Echo and the Bunnymen, Simian Mobile Disco, Delphic, Rolf Harris, Howard Jones, Marc Almond, and of course festival regulars The Cuban Brothers. Plus many more.

Joining host Rob da Bank behind the decks with DJ sets will be La Roux and Dead Guy (DJ set, Magda, Zane Lowe, Audio Bullys, Gilles Peterson, Don Letts, Mylo, Dave Clarke, Erol Alkan, Aeroplane, DJ Yoda, Annie Mac, David Rodigan, Ewan Pearson, Dixon, Greg Wilson, Nathan Fake, Huw Stephens, Mary Anne Hobbs, Jaguar Skills, Joy Orbison, Horse Meat Disco, DJ Derek, and more.
