80's Coventry based alt-rockers The Primitives will be airing their hit 'Crash' at this year's Indietracks Festival.
The Primitives emerged from the independent scene of the mid-80s, alongside
The Jesus and Mary Chain, Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine and The Wedding
Present. With the distinctive singing and blonde bombshell looks of singer
Tracy Tracy, they combined 60s melodies, the buzzsaw guitars of the Ramones
and the pop sensibilities of Orange Juice.
Their career was boosted when Morrissey named them his favourite band. A
widely acclaimed debut album, 'Lovely', presented them with the
international hit single 'Crash', which reached the top five in the UK
charts. The band reunited at the end of 2009 and toured the UK to ecstatic
reviews in April 2010. This is now a chance to catch them at one of the UK’s
most popular small festivals. Let's hope they don't drive way too fast on their way there.
The festival, which takes place from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th July 2010, is held in the grounds of Butterley Station, a picturesque 1950s steam railway in Derbyshire, will also play host to New York headliners the Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Love Is All, Ballboy, The Pooh Sticks, White Town, Allo Darlin', and Veronica Falls.
Around 50 indiepop bands from across the globe will be playing across four stages including Be Like Pablo, Betty and The Werewolves, Boy Genius, The Cannanes, Cineplexx, Fanfarlo, Foxes!, The Give It Ups, The Just Joans, The Loves, MJ Hibbett & the Validators, Onward Chariots, Sarandon, Shrag, The Smittens, Standard Fare, Stars of Aviation, The Sunny Street, This Many Boyfriends, and Winston Echo, and many more.
