The Big Chill name is attached to many a thing; the Big Chill House, the Big Chill Bar, the Big Chill Label and of course the Big Chill Festival. It started in 1994 with Pete Lawrence and Katrina Larkin as a series of ambient parties at the Union Chapel in Islington, but developed into an outdoor festival in 1995 with an event in the Black Mountains of Wales.
In 2009 it was sold to Festival Republic who will co-produce the event from now on.
It is held over the second weekend in August in the beautiful setting of Eastnor Castle Deer Park in Herefordshire. This means you have to be aware Lyme's disease which can be caught from deer (wood) tick bites, but do not let this put you off! It is open from the Thursday morning at 10am, to the following Monday at noon.
