So after an impressive opening night, it was going to be difficult to top Metallica’s performance. First up was Machine Head, and these natural born rockers - real rock music, forget ballads - just play in yer face rock music.

Machine Head

The Distillers were up next. Brody (cough, Courtney Love lookalike and soundalike, cough) Dalle arrived on stage wearing reflective/mirror sunglasses and as much as she enjoyed playing her music there was hardly any flicker of life at all in the audience. A real disappointment.

Thankfully, Scotland Download organisers had the intelligence to book Iggy & the Stooges. The only people who don’t rock or sway to Iggy’s music are dead!Iggy came on to the stage bearing his chest and wearing his usual blue jeans. Even today the audience still loves to see him play, one of the genuine true performers who seems to do it for the love of music rather than the materialistic gains.

Iggy & the Stooges

I wasn't expecting much from Lostprophets, but they put on a performance which was breath taking. I don’t know any of their songs, but after seeing them play here I'll definitely be adding to my CD collection.

Lostprophets

Linkin Park were the headliners for the second day of the Scottish Download. Wonderfully entertaining, with dazzling, colourful lighting effects and their brand of pop-rock which impressed the audience. Again just like Metallica, Linkin Park seem to be genuinely interested in playing live rather than just showing up and playing without the effort. A memorable performance.
