eFestivals interviewed They Say Fall following their appearance at this summer's Download Festival.
How was it playing to the Download crowd?
It was absolutely amazing! After 7 years of attending the festival it was absolutely phenomenal to finally get our name on the poster. We've struggled to put our thoughts into words!
How would you describe your sound?
We'd say it's a big old boiling pot of a whole host of different influences that we all have. Anything from Curtis Stigers to Suicide Silence gets thrown in there, and our sound is what comes out the other side!
Can we expect to see you touring the UK soon?
We have a big tour coming up in October. It's going to be awesome.
Did you have chance to catch any of the other bands at Download? If so, who?
We saw a few of the bands from the Live At Download opportunity in the small amount of free time that we had! Namely Breathe In The Silence and Create To Inspire, both of whom absolutely smashed their sets. We were blown away.
Do you have any new material due out soon?
We've started recording a new record and have a couple of tracks under our belts. We will be starting work on a big release in the coming weeks, and we cannot wait to see everyone's reaction!
Is there any particular band that you would love to be on the same bill as?
We could list countless bands here, and it would be hard to choose just one! We'd have to narrow it down to either Finch, Dillinger or Norma Jean. Any of those would be an absolute honour.
Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to start a band?
Do it! My main bit of advice would be to not expect big things in a short amount of time. We've been building on our band for the last 4 years, and it's just about starting to pay off slowly! It's always so humbling to see people reacting to your band in a positive way, and totally makes all the hard work worth it.
Do you ever get fed up with being asked the same interview questions by music reviewers?
It's easy to see things as tedious, and that is a terrible attitude to have! The fact that people are interested enough to ask us questions in the first place makes it all completely worth answering, no matter how many times you have to do it.
In your own words why should someone start to listen to your music?
The simple fact that we're doing what we love, and have so much passion for it could mean that it's worth checking out! We write music that we love, without sticking to any sort of guidelines, and it produces some pretty unique results!
Who is more important in a band out of the drummer or the guitarist?
Technically, our drummer. But purely because his family own a pub. We like to take full advantage of that!
Have you ever had any spinal tap moments whilst playing live?
Our EP launch a year or so ago held a pretty bad one! We had a huge hometown crowd, and the show had been built up for months. We had this huge intro, building up mad suspense, and just as we were about to kick into the first track, everything went wrong and just stopped. We were all stood there like lemons not really knowing what to do, and had to start things all over again.
