Two weeks later, had time to reflect.
First came 10 years ago but not been for 6 years due to various sad real world things and small children! Never arrived at night before, but it even took my breath away when we walked over the hill on the Wednesday night. Had to stop and take it all in. I've never been filled with emotion as much at a festival before as I was at this one, especially during the silence for Jean, and I was stood at least half a mile from the main stage, up in the tents, but the whole site seemed to go quiet, for the first time in 4 days!
I realise now what I've been missing all of these years, people who only see it on the TV just don't understand, and it wasn't even shown last time I came. The music is only part of it, mind you, what I saw was mostly marvellous. I'm less of a hedonist than last time, but it meant that I could take a lot more in, and it's certainly forced me to take a long hard look at the way we all do things.
Didn't stop me partying for one minute!
Thanks to Underworld, the Manics and The Fun Lovin' Criminals for topping it off in fine style, but the Ballet Hooligans and Devilstick Peat take some beating!
Next year get out and about and get away from those big stages a bit, you might just learn something.
Thanks to Jean and Michael for all they've done for us, and here's to 2000.
Cheers and mine's a Scrumpy.
