Why all the whinging - as many have said the festival is what YOU make it. For those who got their bags nicked from tents don't you read the advice? - we put all our gear in the lock ups in the morning, got it out again at night with no hassle and our gear was safe. We walked round all weekend and never felt threatened, even at 3am in the morning. It is commercial but to survive it has to be - Micheal Eavis is a great benefactor - give that man a knighthood, Blair - but he can't run the show at his own cost, or very quickly there would be no Glastonbury.
Ok the line up was not as good as in previous years, but if you looked around you saw some really good shows - I have never laughed so much as at watching the Bloodhound Gang - Puerile but Soooo entertaining even if the music is only average. Toploader, Coldplay, Reef, Jools, Priory of Brion, Travis all brilliant but the sets by Moby and Bowie out of this world.
The vibes - after Travis on saturday night we went to the cash machines thinking no bugger else would be arsed and the queue would be small. Of course the world and his wife had the same idea and there was still an hours wait, but at least you enjoyed the queue!
Yes more space is needed on the camping field, we got there on Wednesday despite marking out a bit of space, by Friday it was sardine can time (North Pennard) and little sleep can be had for people tripping over tents but hey this is Glastonbury. What does need attention is the getaway, or lack of it on Monday. I didn,t even attempt to move the car until 5.30, having watched one car move less than 100 foot in 6 hours.
So there you go, personally I thought it was the mutts nuts and nice Mr Eavis can I have my tickets early for next year? If you thought it was crap then tough, yer pays yer money and take yer chances, don't bother going next year and let someone have your ticket who might appreciate it!
