Well, this was an absolute whirlwind performance by Californian stoner quartet Fu Manchu, once again proving to us that the spirit of Britain's finest, Black Sabbath, is still alive and well.
Initially only granted a 35 minute slot, Scott Hill and co started 10 minutes early, and they gave us a fine taster of what they're capable of. Starting off with the fantastic "Hell on Wheels" and ending with an extra-long version of "Pigeon Toe", they mixed up material from their new "King of the Road" album together with some older stuff. And although the crowds screams for Blue Oyster Cult cover "Godzilla" weren't granted, Singer/Guitarist Scott Hill proved that this line-up, completed by Brad Davis on Bass, Bob Balch on Lead Guitar and former Kyuss man Brant Bjork on Drums, rocks harder and heavier that ever before.
This was a very tight performance by a band who look like they might be on the brink of finally losing their cult status and are about to blast into the (Rock/Metal) mainstream, GREAT STUFF!!!
