The weather stays dry, and the festival hots up...

The number of people seems to have risen... whereas on Friday it seemed quiet (compared to last year), at points last night it seemed busier than ever. With everyone now walking the 'Glastonbury Shuffle', getting beween stages can be a real pain!

There was early disappointment at the Jazzworld stage when John Martyn didn't appear... there may have been an explaination given before the replacement band, but with the 11am start proving just a little to early for some, there were lots of people wondering where he'd gone.

Otway and Attila, playing one after the other, drew full houses yet again for their sets in the Cabaret Tent, and their performances showed why these two are annual favourites.

John Otway... really free?

When Reef played on the Pyramid Stage, some guy found a whole new angle on crowd surfing... with an inflatable dingy, he paddled over the crowd, laughing his head off... How he even got to get the dingy into that crowd we don't know.

The Glade

Later on, getting to the Dance Tent for Bentley Rhythm Ace from the Glade (where Eat Static went down a storm) took much too long, and getting in proper to the Dance Tent would have taken a further age... after the problems of last year, everyone was making sure they were there for Fatboy Slim nice and early.

Morcheeba gave a polished and slick performance at the Jazzworld Stage, but they appeared genuinely shocked at the size of the crowd. Skye said "...We thought you'd all go to see Travis...". The set was a wonderful mix of their classic tunes with a few songs from the new album thrown in; the crowd were left disappointed when there was no 2nd encore.

Morcheeba

Leftfield headlined at the Other Stage to a packed in crowd. They started mellow and moody and built up very slowly but with great style. 'Chant of a Poor Man' played early and finishing with 'Phat Planet' with a lot of subterrean Techno in between. An very individual slant on each track played and an excellent performance.

And Travis?... We're sure some people were there, but we've yet to meet one.

We'll have full reviews of some of the acts online next week.

We'll have a report of Saturday online before midday Sunday (we hope...).
