The Festival has now kicked off - and has sold out, with a late rush taking the last 3000 tickets. As this is written, The Wailers are playing on the Pyramid Stage, and elsewhere bands play, circus acts perform and the Kidz Field provides entertainment for the younger ones.
Yesterday somebody hit play and the noise started as sound systems all over the site burst into life. On a quick tour we first heard the Pyramid stage playing the Beatles 'All You Need Is Love', then we found the 'Better than you think' outside DJ booth in the market area where they were banging out techno, onto the vodka sponsored silver bubble tent - a dance club in full swing already. The main Dance Tent was also banging out tunes which mingled with the names being called around the camping fields in a desperate attempt for mates to meet their mates.
There was a bit more rain yesterday afternoon/evening, and there are some muddy spots, but mostly the grass remains. Spirits are high now, with the sun out... just don't sit in the mud!
Macy Gray is confirmed in the onsite Select Daily as the special guest on the Pyramid Stage, as has been rumoured for quite a while. Eagle-Eye Cherry has cancelled, to be replaced by G-Love & Special Sauce. Burt Bacharach cancelled a week or so back and David Gray will play in his place.
People were having to queue for around 6 hours to get in last night - it seems as though more people decided to come later this year. Out there now the place is full and buzzin'.
Last night saw the 2nd annual Board meeting - this is a meet up of those who post to and read the message boards on the Original Glastonbury Festival Website - and this got to be quite a party, with a load of people meeting in the flesh for the first time.
And what's everyone looking forward to? There seems to be no one band on everyones lips - the main attraction is being here.
We'll have a report of Friday online before midday Saturday.
