As soon as The White Stripes came on, if you were anywhere near to the Pyramid stage you couldn't help but stop and watch, as Jack and Meg attacked their instruments.

If somebody had said to you last year that The White Stripes would be this far up the bill at Glastonbury festival, you probably would have laughed in their face. But Jack and Meg white showed that they are worthy of their elevated status with a set that had almost everything.

Whether they are divorcees or siblings they have a unique bond which comes across to the audience brilliantly as they exchange looks and snarl lines at each other with such intensity that you can't help but stay and watch in case something happens.

Meg's crashing drumbeat keeps things going whilst Jack's screaming vocals and truly astonishing guitar playing, as he violently takes on the world, is a fantastic spectacle to watch.

The White Stripes treat us to a wide range of their twenty-first century blues in this set, with songs from all three of their albums, including 'Hotel Yorba', 'The union forever', 'Astro', 'Apple blossom', and the truly brilliant 'Fell in love with a girl'. Also included in their set are a couple of cover versions. One is Elvis Presleys, 'Hound dog' and the other is Dolly Partons, 'Jolene'.

The White stripes turned in a decent set and probably won a few more fans today on the pyramid stage. The noise they create between the two of them is amazing and really tight. A lot of people were complaining earlier in the day that they should of been further down the bill or even on the other stage but I for one, thought they deserved the position and cannot wait to catch them again later in the year at Reading.
