It's Friday afternoon and the rain hasn't really abated making access to the Avalon tent a little muddy. However this hasn't put a sizeable crowd off seeing the gypsy flavoured Oi Va Voi perform.
Even if the music wasn't the attraction, which it is, there's also the attractive leggy fiddle player Anna Phoebe to ogle as she thrusts one stilettoed boot onto the stage speakers and writhes with her violin. Okay so the band may have lost KT Tunstall these days but it's really not altered the band's passion. 'Black Sheep' has us up and dancing.
'Gypsy' and 'Yuri' keep the momentum up high, favourites '7 Brothers' and 'Od Yeshoma' really show the band in full 'global rhythm' flow and the current line up with two girls in the fold. Sorry I don't know the blonde singer's name but her vocals are captivating and the sound is as good if not tighter than their last performance at Glasto in 2004.
The band are selling their new album ahead of its release and that's even more reason for the fans to be happy. The seven piece receive a final heartfelt ovation and we head out into the brief spell of sunshine with smiles on our faces.
