The DJ playing in this tent is terrific and worth a mention, all weekend he plays tunes I know well enough to sing along to, none of it cheesy and all gems!
Anyway onto the band, John E Vistic, the English answer to Nick Cave but with an even bigger Guthrie styled country edge. This is a man with a voice and stage presence to surely end up on one of the main stages here in the future.
He staggers, he writhes, he sings and croons and the band fill the space around his movement. A band you'd expect to find in a Burlesque club, or here at Glasto I still think they would be perfect in Lost Vagueness. Dark bruised blues, whiskey rimmed lyrics (I'm trying to resist the comparison to Dylan or Cash though both are hugely tempting) and the sentiment of Leonard Cohen on a bender.
It's lovely stuff, I'm amazed the place isn't crammed, and imagine if it were the scene upon his climax would be akin to that of the Irn Bru advert, lots of happy Goths off smiling to bounce around in the sun. Here's hoping they get a support slot with Grinderman or Alabama 3 and really get the exposure they deserve!
