The line up for Saturday looked promising with Chumbawamba on the main stage in the middle of the afternoon and James finishing the night off. Loads of James t-shirts were wandering round the site all day and they weren't disapointed by a sterling performance last thing. Chumbawamba also satisfied with their upbeat, stomping sound with a strong political stance - smashing. The Saw Doctors drew a big crowd and Cast pleased all. Each of these bands appeared to have a strong core following, with the bulk of the dancing happening at the front of the main stage.

Elsewhere on site the Wurzels wowed them on the Aladdin's Cave stage and Drunk in Public's long set entertained their fans in a low key fashion. The Kids Field was busier than ever and an amazing fire show made the children laugh, scream and yelp as they watched young and old spin fire and burn a huge paper man as he danced. This was finished off by a procession through the festival site and despite the fact that James were on the main stage the procession went past with a samba band drumming and crazy stilt walkers going into the crowd.

The Guilfin lounge provided some good hot coffee when the rain started to fall. And that was the only real downer on the day - the rain. Luckily we haven't had rainstorms, only the odd shower and the Guildford crowd should be commended for keeping up a good festival spirit and dancing on. This festival is proving increasingly friendly and 'festi'-like. It has moments when it feels like you've been caught in a village fete, probably due to its small size and the occasionally conservative looking punter, but overall the high quality of the music and the effort put in to provide true festival acts means that it is getting better and better.

Now lets see what Sunday holds.......
