Matterley Bowl near Winchester, Hants, England MAP
£99 (both days) or £54.50 for either day

With 10 minutes to go the arena is looking pretty empty. But they drag out sound checks and set ups and by the time they play the opening beats of ‘Hide U’ it’s rammed. The beats are top notch and Sian Evan’s voice is lusher than ever and god she’s looking good.

Her voice blows us away and you can feel the whole band are sizzling, the Bristol band know they are on fire. They announce they have a new album ‘Damage’ and new tracks and a new mohawked drummer who is on scorching form, hope he’s joining Markee and Darren and a new keyboardist/quitarist on tour. The trio as a five piece sound bleedin marvellous and new single ‘Overkill’ went down like a Faithless track! Layers of synths, powerful hi tempo staccato drumming and that distinct voice looming and brooding and it sounds like Kosheen are about to come back huge! They emanate huge slabs of trip hop tinged drums and synth – that distinct Bristol sound and it really is on a parr with genre masters Faithless. All the new tunes sounded superb.

There’s clearly a fair few Kosheen fans in the crowd as ‘Catch’ becomes a huge one voiced choral explosion and so are all the other classic tunes like ‘Hungry’ and ‘Empty Skies’ are just huge tunes delivered from a band at the top of their powers. They have to be potential headliners for a Glastonbury stage in 2007 if they can put the hours in and if their album lives up to these glimpses!
