“Hi Hi:Fi are you ready to Jedi?” asks Nick Franglean as he bounces onto the stage with a screen behind him and stands behind a desk as Fred Deakin joins him and the journey begins. The tent is only two thirds full, I guess most of the earlier crowd at Kosheen have gone home possibly. “In the Bath” and that song which starts, “Imagine wanting nothing at all!”

The lights are huge and mesmerising and make it hard to look at the stage without imprinting your retinas. ‘All the Ducks’ has the crowd cheering and dancing and then lots of them leave! Before the even more delightful ‘Guitar Lessons’ where Nick showcases his guitar playing. ‘Baby Please Don’t Go’ goes all bizarre and hard rock as the visuals show cartoon fights, violence and clubbing.

It seems Lemon Jelly have planned this declaring if we came for psychadelic electro pop we were in for a shock they are unleashing more hard rock! “Are we ready to rock!” we cheer back yeah, but I’m thinkinh no bring back the aforementioned dancey groovy quirky electro pop “I Wanna Be With You” is also given the guitar treatment and we are ‘rockin’ now!’ Before they throw handfuls of glo sticks into the crowd, soften the bulbs in the light pillars, for a sample of ‘Fell Like Makin’ Loe” with the full on Lemon Jelly treatment it’s orgasmic. “Set My Baby Free” is also loved up before a final rock guilded ‘Here I Go Again On My Own’ with all the pizzazz.

Lemon Jelly play nasty rock for a bit but the don’t mean it, they just wanna liven us up and by the end we’re all smiles as they win us over the hard way. Clever little techno heads who are having fun. Still a great experience and still outsmarting the audience.
