The age range in the Second Stage tent soars as a good crowd turn out to see lead singer/guitarist Simon Townshend , bassist Bruce Foxton and drummer Mark Brzezicki. Between them they’ve been in Big Country, Procul Harum, The Cult, Pete Townshend, The Jam and Stiff Little Fingers! So it’s not surprising we’ve turned up to hear a few classics.

However this is mainly a chance for the shaven headed, sunglasses perched atop Townshend to play his numbers like ‘Ecstasy Heaven’ and tracks from their new album ‘Eastworld’ despite two members of the band that recorded the album not being there JJ and the other being the other Bruce Watson.

Despite being stripped back to a trio they sounded really good. Clearly the best of the day by some way and they sure know how to make a tight immediate sound. New song ‘Marry Me’ has Bruce’s support vocals and it’s an instant snap to another three piece of mod rock!

The music is punchy, mod-rock that’s able to sustain it’s charged drive even after Simon’s guitar breaks, the vocal, bass and drum muscling through while he changes it while singing about "Living for the moment."

During ‘The Way It Is’ the crowd doubles though this is possibly early birds for the next act Primal Scream. Whatever the reason they are finally treated to a little of the classic with Foxton’s trademark bassline to ‘Start’ getting a huge cheer, before Simon and Mark’s singing and drums make it clear it’s not the same song. Mark playing the trademark ‘In The Big Country’ beat further confuses this! And the crowd go crazy for this bizarre musical mix. It’s not the start of the possible classics but it was enough!
