By the time Delays come on there’s an air of anticipation in the crowd, and England flags are flying. You Don’t Listen draws us in, but doesn’t quite carry as the crowd stay on the floor marking out their territory for the big screen. Delays are certainly on form as well.

I’m embarrassed to say that I thought they were fronted by a female lead singer from hearing their tunes but before us stands a diminutive young man with rough blond curls and this angelic voice. (In fact a lot of the bands are small – I was tempted to call my IOW review of the festival – Hobbit Rock).

The drummer has a heavily strapped right hand but still belts out beats from his skins with such voracity I’m unsure whether it’s not to prevent himself doing an injury!

I also have to add that I don’t know the tracks but it’s bright, warbly stuff perfect for festivals in the sunshine and highly recommended to chill to. It’s soaring uplifting stuff.

Hey Girl manages to get pockets of the crowd grooving and is very reminiscent of the Byrds material. Without his Light has airy vocals galore with a backing track provided by the rest of the band that is very Young Gods or Pixies like with a big jagged riff and perfect drum machine style beat.

They tell us this is their first festival but the Southampton boys have played a blinder and are a top tip for a festival you go to and make sure you’re wearing your dancing shoes!
