The Saturdays
The Saturdays proved to be a fun start to the day with the Green Spheres tent busting at the seams with people looking to catch a glimpse... or hide from the rain maybe? The girls were a pleasure to watch and they appeared to have earned their place on the festival scene, Una even whipping out the guitar for a cover of Madcon's 'Beggin''.

To wimpy to head out into the rain and with a progressively good line-up I stayed by the Heineken Stage for the next two acts. First up was Regina Spektor adding a delicate touch to the weekend complete with piano, cello, violin and mesmerizing vocals.

Peter Doherty
Next up - Peter Doherty. Pretty much what it says on the tin really. The former Libertine turned up on stage with nothing but a guitar and the clothes on his back. After playing a few quirky hits and a cover of 'I Wanna Be Adored' by Stone Roses, it all seemed just a bit too casual with people on the peripherals mingling whilst Doherty played in the background.

Braving the weather I managed to catch a few songs worth of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Got to hand it to Karen O's eccentric moves round stage oblivious to any droplet of the driving rain. Killer set from what I saw, too wet to take photos sadly.

Bloc Party
Later on in the evening, after BrĂ¼no expressed his regret at not being able to attend Oxegen: Ireland's #1 Gay Pride festival, the rain stopped, the wind picked up and with it brought Bloc Party and people in their thousands. The English lads' only Irish gig of the year proved a massive success, lifting a waterlogged crowd with a lot of interaction and enthusiastic performances of hits such as 'State of Flux' and 'Mercury'.

Saturday's finale turned out to be a rather soggy affair in places by Kings Of Leon. Snubbing all but a few major photographers at the last minute and poor crowd interaction lead me to believe fame has started to get to their heads. Yeah they said they appreciated us and it's great that they keep coming back to Oxegen but it just didn't seem very genuine. The set was a tad predictable ('Sex on Fire', 'On Call' etc), but still, they sounded great and lighting was fantastic. Round of applause to those who waited all day on them at the front of the pit getting granny hands from the rain, hope it was worth it!
